My Teaching Philosophy
My Philosophy of Education begins with my belief that education is the basic foundation for all learning. Kindergarten is the beginning stepping stone for that foundation. It is my job as a Kindergarten teacher to provide students with a safe and exciting learning environment.
There are many people that have an important role in educating children to become successful adults. Teachers function as the facilitator of student’s learning. By nurturing and respecting children, teachers become positive role models. Parents also play an important role by communicating with the teacher about their child’s progress and concerns. I believe that it takes a positive partnership between parents and teachers to promote success in children
The content and delivery of the school’s curriculum is very important. Skills should be introduced through a variety of teaching methods including teacher instruction, group activities, and by using supplemental materials. It is my belief that young children learn best by hand’s on activities that they can explore and make real life connection that help establish long term learning.
A positive classroom environment is the key to the success of children in school. A kindergarten classroom needs to be inviting to five and six year old students. The variety of learning resources should be organized in such a way that is easily accessible to students. In order to effectively manage the classroom, teachers must establish a set of classroom rules. I feel that it is important for the students to help create these rules. This way they have ownership in our classroom. Through positive reinforcement of appropriate behavior, I encourage students to follow the rules and do well in school and thereby get the most educational value from their schooling.
